Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! For those of you that celebrated Easter, I hope you had a blessed day. It sure was a sunny and warm day here in Michigan. I actually do not celebrate Easter until May this year so it always caught me off guard when people wished me a “Happy Easter” this weekend. I was like, wait, don’t I still have more than a month to go before Easter? Yup, and I hoping that we will get good weather considering it will be May 1st by the time we (Eastern Orthodoxs) celebrate Easter this year.
Although I did not celebrate Easter this weekend, I still went home for a doctor’s appointment and to get some shopping done with my mom. It was a fun filled weekend overall so let’s get right to the recap! Oh, and although I packed my camera along, I didn’t snap any pictures from my weekend with it so you are getting all iPhone pictures today.
I headed home Thursday evening since I had a packed day Friday and to watch my brother participate in the CrossFit Open. Every Thursday for the past five weeks he has participated in the Open and being away at school, I haven’t been able to watch him. So when I figured out that I was coming home Thursday night, I was pumped to go watch.
When we got to the gym, everyone huddled around the TV to see what the workout was. Everyone was guessing what the workout was going to entail and when it was announced that it was the 14.5 workout, everyone immediately knew what the workout was and immediately dreaded it. The workout was: 21-18-15-12-9-6-3 reps for time of thrusters (95 lb. / 65 lb.) and bar-facing burpees.
My brother was in the first group to go and as I watched everyone, I could tell that this was one tough workout and just a few rounds in everyone was dying. Once my brother and the first group finished, the second group went and it was the same thing. I couldn’t even begin to imagine doing that workout myself. While everyone usually does the workout a second time during the weekend to improve their score, everyone said one and done this time since that workout took so much out of them.
After everyone finished, we headed over to the bar to get drinks. I could tell everyone was wiped out from the workout, but it was still fun to hang out with the group. I didn’t realize it beforehand, but when everyone found out I was my brother’s sister, they all were trying to talk me into joining the box. Apparently my, “I love running too much excuse” wasn’t enough. I told them once I moved home I would try to pop into the box every once in a while. We’ll see… 😉
Even though I was out later than normal on Thursday, I still got up and going on my workout since the rest of my day was busy. I am so happy I did because it felt so good to get my workout done and not have to worry about fitting it in between my other plans. My workout was 9 hill repeats. On my training plan it was actually a tempo workout, but I switched it with the hill workout that is on next week’s schedule since my neighborhood at home has really great hills and where I live at school is so flat. It was a chilly morning, but once I got through the first few repeats I was feeling good and kept going.
After I showered and had breakfast, my mom, my brother, and I headed to Twelve Oaks Mall. I was in need of a dress for graduation and a dress for a wedding in the afternoon after my graduation. My mom and I set out on our mission and were extremely successful. I found a dress for graduation and another one for the wedding, each that both me and my mom like. I also picked up some new jeans that were on sale too since I have been needing a new pair. Once I get going on buying non-athletic wear, you better just let me go because it sure doesn’t happen often haha.
After we finished up, my mom went to wait in line for lunch while my brother, his girlfriend, and I walked around Sur La Table. I always love casually strolling through that store.
Once our table was ready, we headed over to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch. It was my first time there and I am a huge fan. I had the Harvest Kale Salad and it was absolutely delicious.
Afterwards, we headed home as I had a doctor’s appointment to get to. I went to my appointment and once I got home, I ate dinner with my family before heading off to Church with my brother. We attended an Friday evening Lenten service and met up with our young adults group to watch and discuss a movie after.
After two later than normal nights, I decided to sleep in on Saturday and it felt so good. I woke up and my mom offered to cook me breakfast, so of course, I took her up on that offer. 2 over easy eggs with an English muffin on the side that hit the spot. I relaxed with my family before we all got ready to go see MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING 2.
We have been beyond excited for this movie to come out since we all loved the first movie, and since being Greek, we can relate to it all (besides the Windex, we have no idea where that came from…). We headed over to the movie theater and saw the movie around noon. The movie was absolutely hysterical and we all loved it.
After laughing through the entire movie, we made our way back home. My mom and I headed back out to get some grocery shopping done at Aldi and to run a few other errands. You guys, I just love Aldi so much. Not only are their prices great, but they offer so many healthy items too. And they had Cashew Milk this time too — whoop! whoop!
Once we got home, I headed right out for a run while my mom got dinner ready. My training plan called for a 6 mile run, but since I did not want my family waiting for me to eat dinner, I did a little over 4 miles. After running hills the day before, it was just what the perfect amount. I enjoyed dinner with my mom and dad and spent the remainder of the evening on the couch. Party animal, I know.
Yesterday, I woke up and headed to Church with my family. It was an absolutely beautiful day and has me wishing that it could stay this way all week long. (I am so sick of bundling up for my morning runs) After eating lunch at home, my mom brought me back to school and I got some homework it and got organized for the week. I can’t believe I have only a little more than a month of school left! Time is flying by faster than I can imagine.
