I know, I know, it is technically still winter, but haven’t I made it clear that to me, smoothies exist in every season — fall, winter, spring, and of course summer.
I definitely drink more smoothies when it is warm out, but I am still known to whip up a smoothie even in the coldest of winters days. Like this one ^^ and I am not even mad about it.
I wanted to create a mint smoothie to rival the infamous McDonald’s Shamrock Shake. I cannot really compare this mint green protein smoothie to the McDonald’s Shamrock shake since I have never had one, but I can tell you this is one heck of a delicious smoothie that is packed with nutrients AND healthy fats.
Why have I never had a Shamrock Shake? Well the ingredient list freaks me out so much that I honestly do not even crave it. You know I am all about honoring cravings and eating what makes you feel good but there is just something about that Shamrock Shake that never got me. Not even to try.
So as all the hype over the Shamrock Shake is going on, skip the line, skip the sugar overload, and go for this smoothie. I promise you will not be disappointed… it is even topped with cacao nibs for a chocolate crunch! 🙂
In other news… St. Patty’s Day… any fun plans? I used to go out and celebrate during my college days, but this year I have my graduate classes at Michigan State all day, then a mandatory teaching certification meeting after. Yeah, we are not too happy about that long day ahead, but… I am one step closer to getting teacher certified 🎉
Have I mentioned that yet? I am getting so so close to finishing up my internship and finally becoming a certified teacher. I just have until the end of April at the school I am interning at and then teacher certification will be mine 🙂 🙂
Back to the smoothie — quick to make and loaded with nutrients and healthy fats that will fill you up for hours. So even if it is freeeezing outside right now, you can still feel happy sipping away on this smoothie, you know I will be 😉
This Mint Protein Green Smoothie is:
- Dairy Free
- Gluten Free
- Ready in minutes
- Packed with healthy fats
- 1 cup Almond Milk (or milk of choice)
- ½ cup Spinach
- ½ Banana, frozen
- ¼ Avocado
- 1 scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
- 1 tbsp Cacao Nibs
- 2 tsp Chia Seeds
- ⅛ tsp Peppermint Extract
- Combine all ingredients, except the cacao nibs, into a hihg-speed blender and blend until smooth
- Top with cacao nibs and enjoy
