Sharing a few of my favorite things this spring!
Happy Thursday! I thought we would switch things up a bit today and share a few of my favorite things this spring. Today is the last day of my year long student teaching internship (more on that below) so my brain is on overdrive trying to make sure all loose ends are tied up before I walk out of the doors at my school today.
Below are a couple of my favorite things from fitness to fashion to life as of lately. I would love to hear what you are loving lately in the comments below!
Every year without doubt, as soon as the weather gets warmer, I always pull out my Converse and wear them every chance I get. Last year I bought these white Converse All Stars and I continue to wear them a ton this spring. Luckily I have been able to keep them pretty white still! There is something that just screams spring and sunny days when wearing white Converse to me. I know I am not the only one in this! Maybe it is because they seem to match with jeans, capris, shorts, and even dresses? I don’t know, but I am constantly wearing my Converse this time of year!
Dollop Podcast Live
Last weekend my brother, his girlfriend, and I went to live recording of the Dollop podcast. To be honest, before going to the recording I had never listened to an episode of it. My brother has talked about it a ton and you would think since it is a history podcast I would be all over, but I never got around to listening to it. But after going to the podcast live at the Crofoot in downtown Pontiac, I am loving the podcast! I immediately downloaded a bunch of episodes as soon as I got home from it. I laughed during the entire podcast recording because they were so funny.
For those of you not familiar with the podcast, David Anthony reads a a story to Gareth Reynolds who has no idea what the story is going to be about. They talk and joke through the reading of the story and the stories I have listened to have all been really interesting. The podcast episode they recorded live was about Michigan and while I knew a few parts of the story from history classes, a ton of it was new and really interesting.
iPhone 7 Plus
So the other day I was transferring my iPhone 6 out of its regular case into the armband I wear when I go running and dropped it flat on the cement. Whoops! It cracked everywhere and I finally decided to get a new phone. I have had that one for over two years so it was finally time for an upgrade. I was not sure if I wanted the iPhone 7 or the 7 Plus, but my friend talked me into getting the 7 Plus and I am so happy I did.
It takes a bit of adjusting to get used to the bigger size, but I love it. It still fits in my FlipBelt and I am actually starting to prefer the bigger size of it. I am being super careful with it since I do not have a case for it yet (I ordered this one from the Sarah Marie Design Studio though!), but I am loving it. I have not played around a lot with the camera, but I have tried taking a few pictures with it and the quality of the pictures are way better than previous iPhones. And the battery life is really good too!
I know I have shared about Ellie Activewear before but I could not resist sharing my favorite item from April’s box — these leggings! As soon as I opened my box and saw these inside I was so excited. I wore these leggings all last weekend and as soon as I get back into a regular yoga practice, I am going to wear these for yoga too. They are perfect for workouts or for just being out and about.

I cannot believe it but today is the last day of my internship. After working on my undergraduate degree for 4 years leading up to this year, it is crazy that this is the end of it all. Today I am saying good bye to all the students and teachers I have gotten to know over the past school year and it is so bittersweet. While I have a lot of highs and lows through this internship, I am really happy with how it has all turned out. All the lows have been learning experiences for me and I am coming out of this year a better teacher. I am excited to be just a few pieces of paperwork away from being a certified teacher, but am sad to say good bye to so many people I have grown close to over the past year.
What’s next? Next week I will be starting a long term sub position at another nearby school to me. I was able to get this position a couple months ago and have been looking forward to starting for quite a while now. I will be teaching a whole new subject area (human relations, life skills, independent living), but am excited to put into practice everything I have learned over the past year in what is almost my own classroom. After the school year is over in June, I am going to be busy looking for a full time teaching position in the fall! I have started a lot of applications to various districts I am interested in and still trying to decide whether to stay in Michigan or look elsewhere. For right now I am keeping myself open to what may come. I will be sure to keep you all updated! 🙂
