A simple fruit infused spa water recipe to sip on all day long! Refreshing and full of natural flavors.
Hey hey hey! How was your weekend? Anyone spoil their mom for Mother’s Day? Or any mommas out there get spoiled? I sure hope so!
I had a good day celebrating my own momma and enjoying the beautiful weather with her. I just love the weather this time of year! I went on a run on Saturday morning and thought to myself that these are the days I wait for all winter long. Those warm days that are just perfect for running, before we get into the heat of summer. I did not head out for my run until after 10 and felt great the whole time, but I remembered that soon enough I am going to have to get up and get my run on first thing in the morning to beat the summer heat.
While I was on my run, I was also thinking (I always seem to do a lot of good thinking on the run 😉 ) about things I said I would never do in regards to running when I first started running that I now do.
Case in point: I will never train for a race during the summer.
Summer heat can be brutal you guys, and I know that Michigan does not even get the worst of it, but it can still get pretty hot and humid over here. When I first started running regularly, I hit the summer months and promised myself I would not put myself through training for a race during the summer.
Yet here I am, getting ready to train for a MARATHON throughout the summer. I start training in June, which is right when the heat will kick up. And last year, I trained for a half marathon during the early parts of summer and ran it in July. I lucked out with good weather conditions on race day — not too hot or humid — it definitely could have been a hot and humid day!
Not really sure where I was going with that, other than to say, sometimes we change. Sometimes we believe in one thing wholeheartedly and later realize, hey maybe I think differently about this now. I always thought I would never train for a long distance race during the summer, then I actually did and yeah some runs were hot and humid, but I did it. And I am doing it again. It was not as bad as I thought it would be and I learned lessons along the way, like getting up early on Saturday morning to get in my long run.
You live and you learn!
And it is not too shabby to come back home from a summer run to a refreshing drink… like this fruit infused spa water! YAAAAS!
