Let’s talk about blueberries for a second, shall we?
Blueberries. I am not much of a fan of snacking on blueberries plain, but mixed into dishes (like oatmeal or pretty much any dessert), I love them. They add such a perfect sweetness and flavor to really any dish you add them too.
Plus, blueberries have some pretty awesome health benefits too…
Blueberries are PACKED with antioxidants, which helps to reverse the damage done by toxins and free radicals to your body. Antioxidants are also great to combat signs of aging.
Blueberries help protect our brains from degeneration, neurotoxicity, and oxidative stress… BRAIN POWER.
Blueberries are a natural source of insoluble fiber and can help support your digestive system.
Blueberries also benefit your skin and promote a healthy heart. How could you not love blueberries when they are packed with all these benefits?
I decided to get all the benefits of blueberries in with a SMOOTHIE recipe. As soon as summer hits, my blender is going nearly every day with a smoothie. It is so refreshing and perfect on a hot summer day.
What makes this smoothie awesome is that it requires only 5 ingredients. FIVE ingredients! And I bet you have most, if not all, of the ingredients already in your kitchen.
Also, this smoothie requires no banana. Not one at all. I love adding frozen banana to my smoothies, but sometimes I just do not feel like having a banana flavor in my smoothie and want to skip it. This smoothie is perfect for those days because the oats help thicken the smoothie up the way a frozen banana would.
This recipes makes 1 serving, but you could easily double up if you wanted another serving to share!
