What do you eat in a day?
I eat a variety of whole foods every day, though I do stick to my favorites. Regulars include banana, peanut butter, avocados, iced coffee, and almond milk. I am a firm believer in enjoying in moderation, so I do eat dessert as part of a balanced diet.
Do you have any dietary restrictions?
For years, I stayed away from eating dairy, but more recently I have added dairy back into my diet and my body has been handling it fine. So now, I do not have any dietary restrictions.
What is your approach towards eating?
I believe in balance. I don’t count calories, but rather strive to get all three macronutrients into each meal I eat: protein, carbohydrates, and fat. I focus on eating whole foods, that includes fruits, vegetables, meat, and complex carbohydrates. Though I never say no to dessert!
Are you a registered dietitian?
No I am not. Everything posted on here is based on my own knowledge and research, and I stand behind what I write here on the blog.
Blogging & Photography
Why did you start a blog?
I started a blog as a way to share my journey in healthy living while in college. I felt that I had something to share with others, especially those in college wanting to make healthy food and fitness a priority, so I started my blog as a way to connect with those. Over the years, my blog has transformed to continue to still share my journey in healthy living in college, but to also be a resource to other twenty-something girls navigating the world of healthy living. While my time in college has come to an end, my blog is still here to motivate others to live a healthy and active lifestyle in the long term, especially young women looking for whole food recipes to fuel a healthy lifestyle.
What type of camera do you use?
I currently use a Canon Rebel T5, though occasionally photos from my iPhone 6 will make their way on here as well!
P.S.: I highly recommend the Canon Rebel T5 to anyone looking for a beginner DSLR!
What programs do you use to edit your photos?
I currently use GIMP to edit my photos.
What platform do you use to blog? Who is your host?
I currently blog on WordPress with my hosting from BlueHost (affiliate link). I started the blog on Blogger and blogged for 2 years before making the switch over to WordPress, so bear with me as I still learn all the ropes of WordPress!! I currently blog on the Genesis framework with the Pretty Lifestyle theme by Pretty Darn Cute Design.
Did you play sports in high school?
I ran track in middle school and early high school, but decided not to stick with it. You can learn more about my journey on this post. Instead of participating in sports, I was involved with Greek dancing throughout my school years and I continue to Greek dance today. I was also active in extracurricular clubs as well as youth organizations with my church.

What do you like to do besides running?
Spinning, hiking, yoga, HIIT, and strength training. I like to switch up my workout routine week to week and love adding in new ways to stay active!
What is your workout schedule?
It switches from week to week, but I usually run 5 days a week and add in cross training, HIIT workouts, and strength training in as well. On the days I don’t run I usually do strength training, yoga, or have a rest day. As I said, it does switch week to week, especially if I am training for a race, where I follow a more concrete schedule and put my focus on running.
Where did you go to college?
I am a recent graduate from Michigan State University (Go Green!) where I graduated with my Bachelor’s in History Education with a teaching minor in political science.
How did you get into blogging?
During my freshman year of college, after a semester not working out and not eating the best (not terrible, but not the best), I decided to make a change to my lifestyle. I started my second semester of my freshman year and got back into running and cleaned up my diet. That summer I moved back home and my mom suggested starting a blog to share my journey in healthy living in college and inspire other students to be active and live healthy in college. As first I was hesitant, then decided to go for it and haven’t looked back since. After a few months of blogging I started joining blogging groups (like Her Campus Blogger Network and Fit Approach) and began meeting blogger friends that shared the same interests as me, which has fueled my passion for blogging and healthy living even more. Over three years later, I am still here blogging and continue to love writing, editing, and photographing every day!
What is your favorite recipe from the blog?
This is always the hardest question for me to answer! One of my favorites that I make regularly is one recipe from the blog’s early days which is the Quinoa & Black Bean Power Bowl, but I also love my coconut flour zucchini bread, dairy free peanut butter brownies, and honey vanilla cashew butter!
Do you blog full time?
Nope, I am a full time middle school teacher! I have worked hard to grow this blog and am able to supplement my income with this blog which has been a great way for me to continue to grow this blog and devote my time to it. I could definitely put enough hours into this blog to be full time, but school and teaching is my priority.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love cooking, reading, running, exploring new places, and reading other blogs.
Do you travel?
I love travelling! Though, my college student budget doesn’t allow for all that much, I have been to some pretty spectacular places. I have traveled (and recapped on the blog) multiple times to Boston and Silver Lake, Michigan. I have also been to Alaska and New Orleans. Before blogging I have traveled to Florida, Canada, the Bahamas, New York City, and all across Michigan, even the Upper Peninsula.
